Privacy Policy

Effective date: 14 August 2026 Last updated: 14 August 2026

This policy explains how Globally Focused Education CC, trading as Global Education (“we”, “us”, “our”), collects, uses, shares, and looks after personal information.

It applies to www.globaleducation.co.za, related domains (including globaleducationgreece.com), our enquiry forms, website chat, email, phone, and in-person consultations at our offices.

If you are in South Africa, this policy should be read with our POPIA notice.

We also operate from Cape Town, Durban, Harare, and Athens. Those offices act for the same business.

The information we collect

We collect what we need to advise you and to lodge applications.

Identity and contact: name, email, phone, postal or residential address, city, country, and (where you give it) sex.

Education and application: academic history, transcripts, English-test results, passport or ID details, intended course and destination, budget or funding information, and previous visa outcomes if you tell us about them.

Family and sponsor: parent or guardian details, and sponsor or next-of-kin contacts when they are part of the application.

Technical: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and cookies needed to run the site (see Cookies below).

Communications: messages you send through our forms, website chat, email, or WhatsApp, and notes from consultations.

We do not buy marketing lists. If someone else refers you (a school, a parent, or a partner), we will treat that information under this policy.

How we collect it

  • Directly from you, on our website forms (Sign Up and Contact), website chat, email, phone, or in a meeting.

  • From a parent, guardian, or school acting for a student.

  • From university or pathway partners, and from visa or immigration authorities, when they write back about an application we are handling.

  • Automatically, through the website and our service providers (including Wix).

Why we use it

We use personal information to:

  • respond to enquiries and book consultations

  • assess whether we can assist you, and to advise on universities, visas, and accommodation

  • prepare and submit applications to universities, pathway providers, and visa authorities

  • keep you and the assigned counsellor updated

  • meet legal, tax, audit, and professional obligations

  • keep the website secure and understand how it is used

  • send service messages about your application

We do not sell personal information. We do not use it for unrelated third-party advertising.

Who we share it with

Only as needed for the purpose you approached us for:

  • Our staff in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Harare, and Athens, on a need-to-know basis

  • Universities and pathway partners in the destination country (including the UK, Ireland, Europe, Australia, and the United States)

  • Visa and immigration authorities (for example Home Affairs / IMMI in Australia, UKVI in the United Kingdom)

  • Accommodation and finance partners when you ask us to introduce you

  • Operators who run our systems: Wix (website and forms), our CRM, and Google (email and meetings)

  • Professional advisers (legal, accounting) and authorities if the law requires it

Anyone we use as an operator is required to handle the information only on our instructions and to keep it secure.

Cross-border transfers

Applications are sent to institutions and authorities outside South Africa. That is the service. Those countries do not all have the same data-protection laws as South Africa. We only transfer what is required for the application or enquiry, and we do so because you have asked us to act for you.

Children and students under 18

Many of our clients are school-leavers. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should make the enquiry and must consent to us processing the student’s information. We do not knowingly market to children.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not become clients: usually up to 24 months, then we delete or anonymise them unless you ask us to keep the file open.

  • Client and application files: for the life of the application and for a reasonable period after (typically five years), or longer if a university, visa authority, or South African law requires it.

  • Website logs and cookies: according to the provider’s settings, generally a short period.

Cookies

Our site is hosted on Wix. It uses cookies that are necessary for the site to work (security, language, load balancing). Wix and embedded tools may also set analytics or functional cookies. You can control non-essential cookies in your browser, and through any cookie banner shown on the site. Essential cookies cannot be switched off without breaking the site.

Your rights

You may ask us to:

  • confirm whether we hold your information, and see it

  • correct or update it

  • delete it, where we have no lawful reason to keep it

  • object to or restrict certain uses

  • withdraw consent where we relied on consent (this will not undo work already done)

South African data-subject rights are set out in more detail in our POPIA notice.

To use any of these rights, email infoglobal@global-education.co.za or write to the Information Officer at the address above. We may need to verify who you are. We will respond within a reasonable time, and within the time POPIA requires where it applies.

Security

We limit access to staff who need the file, use password-protected systems, and require our operators to apply appropriate security. No online transmission is completely secure. If we become aware of a breach that affects you, we will notify you and the Information Regulator when the law requires it.

Third-party sites

Our site links to universities, the British Council, and other partners. Their privacy practices are their own. Read their policies before you submit information to them directly.

Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change. The current version will always be on this page.
